Rochester & Strood Labour are opposing the rushed Conservative proposals which threaten the very foundations of the NHS in Medway and at a time of unprecedented cuts of £20bn.
The government say the reforms will make the NHS better - but healthcare professionals, charities and economists all disagree.
This blog is standing side-by-side with the professionals to oppose Conservative privatisation by the back-door.
- The government say that GPs should look after the purse-strings,but many don’t want to, and many practices will be taken over by profit-making companies.
- The government say the reforms will cut wasteful bureaucracy, and yet they will cost £3bn to set up. The government say quality will improve, but cuts to services and staff will see waiting lists rise.
- The government say the reforms will make the NHS fairer, but they will actually create a postcode lottery, where access to treatment will differ depending on where you live.
- The government say the reforms will put patients first, but they’ll simply put private health companies in the driving seat.
Whatever the government say about the reforms: do not swallow.
Help us protect our NHS from this dangerous prescription, or it could mean the end of our NHS as we know it. It may still be called the NHS, but behind the logo there will just be a group of unnaccountable private companies profiting from your pain.
