A very productive day on the campaign to secure additional CCTV cameras for the Luton Road. My thanks to fellow ward campaigner Jon Primett for his efforts today on the ground.
Luton Road is an area with significant amount of unreported criminality which is known in the community, and I believe in the corridors of Kent Police as well. It is a community that needs help in combating anti-social behaviour and it is the PACTs and ward councillor belief that CCTV camera's are indeed necessary.

We are all waiting and holding our breath in the community that we can secure the CCTV units after the Portfolio Holder Cllr Mike O'Brien approached Cllr Alan Jarrett today to secure funding.
As yet my own application for funding has not had a response, which has led me and others, to start an online campaign. It is hoped that the comment from Cllr O'Brien means a decision could be with us tomorrow on the campaign.
The cost of the three CCTV units and supporting infrastructure is £20,000. The cameras themselves cost £3,000 but there is a requirement to install an upgraded platform for increased capacity.
We will wait to see tomorrow whether the grant bid to secure the three CCTV units will be granted for the ward.
